Win Free Tix to The Filament Festival @ EMPAC, 10/1-3/10
It’s hard to believe it was only two years ago that EMPAC opened. Since then, visitors have been treated to an astonishing assortment of performances, exhibitions and films as well as events that fall firmly into the category of “indescribable happenings.”
To celebrate this two year anniversary, EMPAC is presenting this weekend’s Filament Festival. Slated to become a biennial event, the festival gives visitors a chance to see a slew of new, cutting edge works and performances, a peek into the behind-the-scenes artistic process that occurs while creating and refining new works and a look back at the commissions and artist residencies of the past two years.
On the schedule are over 15 premieres spanning theater, 24-channel sound, contemporary dance, video, and a barn-raising. Yep, a barn raising. The entire weekend is looking seriously cool. Here’s the full schedule. Stay tuned for overviews of some of the highlights later this week.
The Filament Festival opens Friday, October 1 and runs through the weekend. A 3-day festival pass is $35, with tickets for individual events ranging from $5 to $15.
Heeeey, we have a pair of weekend passes for this show to give away to a lucky Nippertown reader. To enter, leave a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winner will be selected at random and notified on Thursday. Good luck! Congratulations, K.A.!
EMPAC is an amazing venue! I can’t believe how wonderful the site is and all the different spaces in it. This will be a wonderful fest.
This could be my BFF. (Best Filament Festival) Hope to win the tickets. Thanks.
I have been to one show at EMPAC and was very impressed with the building. It is a great addition to Troy. I would treat my husband if I won these fest tickets.
Big fan of EMPAC too. The opening two years was something! It’s a hit or miss sometimes, but hey, that’s why there is “Experimental” in the name 🙂
Can’t wait to see the performances. 🙂
I’m excited. I’ve been lucky with EMPAC events and have throughly enjoyed every one i’ve been to. Maybe I have an experimental kind of mind.
I live in Troy and I have only been to EMPAC for the opening weekend. I should really get beck there!
