Warming up the chilly January concert calendar, The Egg will welcome neo-soul and R&B queen Sharon Jones and her band, the Dap Kings, at 7:30pm on Saturday, January 22. Tix priced at $29.50, $34.50 and $44.50 are currently on sale to members of The Egg and will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, October 20.

Led by roots-rockin’ veteran Dave Gonzales (of the Paladins and the Hacienda Brothers), the Stone River Boys make a stop at the Ale House in Troy at 8pm on Sunday, October 24, in support of the recently released debut album, “Love on the Dial.” Tix are $20.

Northern Lights in Clifton Park has added some new shows to the concert calendar, including Cold and Soil at 7:30pm on Saturday, November 13, with Skeletons in the Piano, Ironweed and Museum Guards rounding out the bill. Priced at $12 in advance ($15 at the door), tix go on sale at 10am Saturday. Also newly added is a show by Apocalyptica at 7:30pm on Saturday, December 4. Priced at $18 in advance ($20 at the door) tix go on sale at 10am Friday. Also on sale Friday are tix for Job for a Cowboy at 7pm on Saturday, December 18. Sharing the bill will be Skeletonwitch and Misery Index. Tix are $12 in advance; $14 at the door.

Ch-ch-ch-changes: We’re bummed out about this one. When it was announced back in August, the Experience Hendrix tribute concert at the Palace Theatre in Albany on Saturday, November 6, the all-star show was to feature performances by Susan Tedeschi, Robert Randolph, David Hildalgo and Cesar Rosas – all of whom have since dropped off the bill. The other musicians who were announced are still scheduled to perform, including Billy Cox, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Jonny Lang, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Ernie Isley, Living Colour, Chris Layton and the Slide Brothers. Newly added to the bill is Brad Whitford of Aerosmith. (And, of course, you can still catch Robert Randolph leading his Family Band at The Egg on Saturday, October 23.)

Down at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, reggae greats the Mighty Diamonds will be laying down their Jamaican riddims at 9pm on Saturday, December 18. Tix are $20.

In case you missed it: “Lonesome Val” Haynes – former lead singer with Nippertown new wave greats the Units and Fear of Strangers – returns from a long musical hiatus to open the show for Crash Test Dummies at The Linda in Albany at 8pm on Saturday, December 4. Read more here.
