Rebel Sound Records in Pittsfield To Close

Come December, there will be one less spot in Nippertown to satisfy your vinyl cravings.

And this one’s a double whammy – not only are we losing a record store, but we’re also losing another performance venue.

Rebel Sound Records in Pittsfield will be shuttering its doors for good at the end of November. After two years of bringing rare vinyl and gobs of live shows to town, Rebel Sound is calling it quits.

Everything in the store is currently on sale: new and used CDs, new and used LPs, action figures, clothing, books and magazines are now being sold at 30-50% off the sticker price.

Meanwhile, the shows in the back room will go on as scheduled through the end of November. Here are a few highlights:

Wednesday (October 20), 7pm: Smoke or Fire, Dead to Me, El Spectre, Slaughterhouse Chorus. $10.

Friday (October 22), 7pm: Comedy Showcase featuring host Matt Kona with Sharkee Katz, Drew Bligh, Jay Petrone, Ezra Prior, more. $7.

Saturday (October 23), 7pm: Comedy Showcase featuring host Mick Greenwood with Ted Pettingell, Will Noonan, Guitler Raphael, Shawn Carter, more. $7.

Sunday (October 24), 1pm: Fractures, Pruf, Condition Oakland. $7.

Sunday, October 31, 1pm: TNT, Cocker Spaniels, Good Citizens, Shattered Vision, Hand of Reckoning. $7.

Sunday, November 7, 2:30pm: Brick Mower, Period Girls. $7.

Friday, November 12, 6pm: Free Spirit, Waste Management, Stick Together, Unfun, Colossus, Low Character. $8.

Saturday, November 13, 7pm: Severe Severe, Plantoid, Problems With Dragons, the Uncomfortables. $7.

Saturday, November 20, 7pm: ANTiSEEN, Psycho, The Prozacs, F.B.A. $13.50 in advance; $15.50 at the door.
