“I don’t remember the first one that I bought, but I do remember the first album that I ever owned. The very first one that was given to me as a gift was ‘Rock Around the Clock’ by Bill Haley. That was actually the first album that I ever had. The album wasn’t given to me at the time the album was released; it was some years later maybe in ‘57 or ‘58.

“I don’t have that album anymore, unfortunately. It wouldn’t have lasted in our household. I played it a lot, and my brother is eight years younger than me, so he was a baby coming up. And things just don’t last when there are babies in the house.”

Vocalist-bassist Joey Spampinato, his brother Johnny and the rest of the members of the Spampinato Brothers celebrate the release of their debut CD, “Pie in the Sky,” at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm tonight. The Willy Amrod Band opens the show. Tix are $25.

Joey is a great musician. As a teen they called him Joey Beatle because of his long hair. He’s been playinhg bass for a lot of years.
