Down in Woodstock, the Bearsville Theater has a batch of new shows lined up including a family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration by Uncle Rock & the Playthings from 6-9pm on Friday, December 31 ($10; kids $5). Kick off the New Year right with a concert by the New Riders of the Purple Sage and Professor Louie & the Cromatix at 7:30pm on Saturday, January 1 ($30). Former E Street Band keyboardist David Sancious leads his band at 9pm on Friday, January 21 ($15). And the REALLY Big new show on the schedule? Neko Case steps into the Bearsville Theater spotlight on Tuesday, February 1 with the fabulous Lost in the Trees opening the show at 8pm. Tix are $40.

Twangmaster Bill Kirchen brings his Honky Tonk Holiday Show to the Ale House in Troy at 7:30pm on Tuesday, December 14. Tix are $20.

Vocalist-harpist Orla Fallon – one of the original members of Celtic Woman – leads her own ensemble into The Egg in Albany at 7:30pm on Saturday, April 23 for an evening of traditional Celtic music. Tix are $28.

Speaking of all things Celtic, in case anyone needs another dose of “Riverdance,” here it comes. At the Palace Theatre in Albany at 8pm on Friday, March 4 and at 2 & 5pm on Saturday, March 5. Priced at $34.50, $49.50 and $59.50, tix go on sale to the general public at 10am on Monday.

Meanwhile, the current incarnation of Celtic Woman heads into the Palace at 7:30pm on Wednesday, March 23. On sale to the general public on Friday, tix are are priced at $32 and $62.

New shows added to the calendar at Club Helsinki Hudson in Hudson include Tao Seeger & George Kilby Jr. with members of Railroad Earth (Andy Goessling, Johnny Grubb) and Hot Tuna (Barry Mitterhoff) at 9pm on Saturday, January 8 ($18); and Rasputina at 8pm on Thursday, January 17 ($15).

The Linda is Albany has booked two of Nippertown’s annual early-year events – the Elvis Birthday Bash featuring the Lustre Kings and Johnny Rabb at 8pm on Saturday, January 8 ($20) and Ernie Williams’ 86th Birthday Bash at 8pm on Saturday, February 5 ($18).

CH-CH-CH-CHANGES: The Shemekia Copeland show that was originally slated for Club Helsinki Hudson in Hudson on Friday January 28 has disappeared from the calendar. Postponed? Cancelled? Either way, the new replacement show for that night is Joseph Arthur. Showtime is 9pm; tix are $15. Also at Helsinki Hudson, the Mary Gauthier concert that was originally slated for Saturday, February 12 has been postponed ’til Friday, March 4.

CH-CH-CH-CHANGES, PART II: Anna Cheeks’ CD release party at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock has been postponed from Sunday, December 12 ’til Sunday, December 19. The Todd Nelson Trio opens the show.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Egg also announced four other concerts for their 2011 calendar… The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall announced an acoustic concert by Bryan Adams… Northern Lights in Clifton Park announced our fave Celtic punksters Flogging Molly… The Clark Art Institute in Williamstown announced concerts by White Rabbits, Dar Williams and Roger McGuinn… The Glens Falls Civic Center announced the head-banging Music as a Weapon Tour featuring Korn and Disturbed, as well as Sevendust and In This Moment.
