RIP: Stan Marsden, 1929-2010

We are sad to report that veteran Nippertown musician Stan Marsden passed away in Saratoga Springs on Wednesday. He was 81 years old.

Born in Canada and raised in Great Britain, Marsden played his first Capital Region gig at Otto’s on the Latham Circle back in 1956. He was a member of the Dale Foster Quartet, but is best known on the local music scene as the drummer-vocalist-vibraphonist with one of the area’s most popular and enduring bands, the Vito Mamone Trio, with whom he performed for more than 30 years at such venues as the Golden Fox in Colonie, the Country Gentleman in Saratoga Springs and Mill Road Acres in Latham.
