The Old Songs Festival Preview for 2011
The fine folks at Old Songs have let us have a peek at who’s scheduled to be performing at the upcoming 31st annual Old Songs Festival of Traditional Music & Dance, which is slated to take place once again at the Altamont Fairgrounds in Altamont from Friday-Sunday, June 24-26.
Here are some of the performers who will be kickin’ it Old Songs-style at the fest: Outside Track, Arrogant Worms, the Guy Mendilow Band, Freight Hoppers, Jez Lowe, Acoustic Eidolon, Tidal Wave, the Press Gang, Babik, Quickstep, Scott Ainslie, Kapriol’!, the Amidons, Andy Cohen and Bing Futch.
Additional performers and more info on the upcoming fest are scheduled to be announced later this month.
And in the meantime, don’t forget about the annual Old Songs Sampler Concert, which is a fundraiser for the summertime festival. The Sampler Concert will be held at Old Songs in Voorheesville at 8pm on Saturday, January 29 and will feature performances by bluegrass favorites Fairview Avenue, Robin O’Herin, George Robinson, Music Mobile’s Ruth Pelham, Cavanaugh & Kavanaugh and a reunion of the St. Regis String Band, in addition to the usual raffles and bake sale. Tix are $20; children 12 and under $5.
