MUSIC: Americana Tuesdays @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Dan Johnson & His Expert Sidemen carry on their roots music concert series – a kind of Nippertown variation on the Grand Ole Opry – with special guest M.R. Poulopoulos (of Palatypus), who’s about to drop his debut solo album. 8pm. $5
OPERA ON FILM: “The Girl of the Golden West” @ Proctors, Schenectady. Puccini’s classic Wild West opera gets a contemporary, capitalist Wall Street update with the Netherlands Opera’s production directed by Nikolaus Lehnhoff. 2 & 7pm. $20.
READING: Edmund Morris @ the New York State Museum’s Clark Auditorium, Albany. Sponsored by the New York State Writers Institute, the Pulitizer Prize winning author of a trilogy of biographies on Theodore Roosevelt reads from his work. 8pm. FREE.
COMEDY/MUSIC: Capital Underground Badass Open Mic @ Badass Burrito, Troy. With showcase performances by comedian Bryan Burgess and classic rockers Big Red Nasty. 8pm. FREE.
