New Blues Rockers: The Resonators

A new band is emerging on the Nippertown music scene this weekend. The Resonators will make their public debut at Jay’s Bar & Grill in Ballston Spa with a free show at 9pm on Saturday. The blues rock quartet digs into the repertoire of folks like BB King, Muddy Waters, Freddie King, the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix.

The band is led by guitarist-vocalist Phil Drum, who also the driving force behind the Saratoga Acoustic Blues Society. Here’s Drum’s capsule report on the rest of the members of the Resonators:

Chris Guldner: bass, vocals – has played with George Fletcher and Bourbon Renewal, Tom Evan Blues Band and Bluesology

Sonny Speed: keyboards, vocals – has played for years downstate with bands such as the Defibrillators and Tornado Alley, came up to Saratoga a year ago and is already getting gigs with the likes of Garland Nelson and Ed Jahn

Fred Tripp: drums – has played with a host of local and national blues and rock bands, including Bourbon Renewal, Stony Creek Band and the George Boone Blues Band
