MUSIC: Americana Tuesdays @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Dan Johnson & His Expert Sidemen host their almost-weekly roots-rockin’ shindig with Matt Durfee as their special guest performer. 8pm. $5.

MUSIC: The Macpodz @ Red Square, Albany. They describe their sound as “disco bebop,” and they honed it to a razor sharp edge the backing band for poet-activist John Sinclair. 9pm. $10.

FILM: “Race to Nowhere” @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. Vicki Abeles’ challenging documentary concerning academic testing and the American educational system. 7pm.

FUNDRAISER/COMEDY: “An Evening of Comedy” @ Proctors, Schenectady. With Erick James, Mike Spiers and Vinnie Mark. The reception kicks off at 6pm, followed by the trio of stand-up comics beginning at 7:30pm. A benefit event for the Baptist Health System Foundation. $75.

MUSIC: Uncle Bootsy @ the Moon & River Cafe, Schenectady. The Electric City tunesmith is back for his monthly M&R gig. 8pm. FREE.
