Yeah, it’s on Friday the 13th – of May, that is – but how could it possibly be bad luck when two such very fine things as Levon Helm and Ommegang get together? That’s right, the Levon Helm Band at Brewery Ommegang in Cooperstown at 7pm on Friday, May 13. Gates open at 4pm. Priced at $45, tix are on sale now.
A couple of big new shows have been added to the calendar of the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock. Todd “A Wizard, a True Star” Rundgren returns to his former studio home at 8pm on Thursday, June 23. Tix are $40. And then there’s Three of a Perfect Pair – the all-star trio of Adrian Belew, Tony Levin and Pat Mastelotto – at 8pm on Thursday, August 25. Tix are $25 in advance; $30 at the door.
Saratoga’s fave electro duo Phantogram lands at Pearl Street in Northampton at 9pm on Sunday, July 24, with the Glitch Mob headlining the show. Tix are $15 in advance; $20 at the door.
Speaking of Northampton, new shows lined up at the Calvin Theatre include bluesman Jonny Lang at 8pm on Friday, July 22 ($25, $35, $45) and a reunion of Bela Fleck and the original Flecktones (with harmonica man Howard Levy re-joining the band) at 8pm on Thursday, November 10 ($35, $45).
Snoop Dogg romps into Northern Lights in Clifton Park at 8:30pm on Saturday, May 28. Priced at $30 in advance, tix go on sale at 10am on Saturday.
The Washington Avenue Armory is gonna be jam-packed with tunes during the middle of April – Fabolous at 6pm on Sunday, April 10 ($30); Steve Aoki at 9pm on Tuesday, April 12 ($25, $30 and $35); and Lupe Fiasco at 8pm on Wednesday, April 13 ($35). That’s three big shows in just four days…
The Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield will be throwing down some hip-hop as well, when Talib Kweli steps into the spotlight at 8pm on Friday, July 22 ($20, $35, $55). Other new shows on the Colonial’s upcoming schedule include Southside Johnny & the Asbury Jukes at 7:30pm on Thursday, August 25 ($15, $35, $55, $60); and the Tartan Terrors at 8pm on Friday, October 21 ($15, $25, $35).
Veteran blues bar-band warriors the Nighthawks will be winging their way into the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Troy at 9:30pm on Friday, April 29.
New additions to the concert calendar at Club Helsinki Hudson in Hudson include Cajun fiddler-accordionist Cedric Watson and his band Bijoux Creole at 9pm on Saturday, June 4 ($TBA) and the bluegrass chamber ensemble Crooked Still at 8pm on Sunday, October 9 ($20).
Soul Patrol alert! Fifth season American Idol Taylor Hicks rolls into the Wood Theater in Glens Falls at 7:30pm on Monday, May 16. Tix are $48.50. And although puppeteer-ventriloquist Wayland Flowers died in 1988, his bawdy, wise-cracking puppet Madame lives on – on the arm of Rick Skye, who brings her to the Wood for shows at 8pm on Thursday & Friday, August 25 & 26. Tix are $30.
The Boston-based all-star band Ernie & the Automatics cruise into Jillian’s in Albany at 9pm on Friday, April 8. The six-piece classic rock band features some well-known rockers, including guitarist Barry Goudreau and drummer Sib Hashian (both from the band Boston), as well as saxophonist Micahel Antunes (the Beaver Brown Band). Admission is just $1.06.
UPDATE: Yes, we announced it six weeks ago, but now the folks at the Times Union Center have finally made it official – Michael Buble will bring his Crazy Love tour to town at 8pm on Saturday, June 18. Priced at $52.50, $68 and $92.50, tix are slated to go on sale to the general public at 10am on Friday.
