Flashback Foto: Name That Band! Win a Prize!

Flashback Foto

After the debacle of last week’s contest, here’s a softball for ya: a FREE PAIR OF PASSES to the Spectrum 8 Theatres will go to the 10th commenter who correctly identifies this band.

To make it fair, comments on this post won’t show up until we announce the winner on Monday afternoon. One comment per person, please, and be sure to leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. Good luck!

OK, OK, apparently this contest thing isn’t working out very well. We thought this was a pretty easy one, but, for the second week in a row, we DO NOT HAVE A WINNER. In fact, we only had one correct answer. Thank you, Mr. Eck, for correctly identifying MISTER STRANGE from their 1994 promo photo, which was shot on the UAlbany campus. We’re going to step back and reconsider the whole contest thing, but we’ll definitely continue to post at least one local band Flashback Foto every week, so stay tuned for the next one on Thursday.

    Trixter?

are you sure that’s our Albany? The tops of the columns look too square, there are round openings in the ceiling (for lights?), and the walls of the buildings are not pebbly black.

More: columns much too close to walls, no pattern of concrete and brown pebble paving.

No, David, actually I’m not sure about that UAlbany setting. I just kinds assumed. But being the architecture guy that you are, I’ll defer to you… unless, of course, vocalist Mark McClosky, guitarist Mark Visconti, drummer Eric Wiegert or bassmaster Chris Wyse steps forward with the definitive answer…

If I had to guess, I’d say it’s the base of the Corning Tower Building.

Sara has guessed correctly! In fact, the photo is shot on the south (long) side of the Tower, viewing toward the west, and by the shadows cast, I’d say mid-afternoon. Perhaps June.
