Reel Good for Free: Henry James Film Festival @ The Linda, 4/8-9/11
In conjunction with the James Family Celebration – which honors the work of novelist Henry James and his brother, philosopher William James – The Linda in Albany is hosting the Henry James Film Festival this weekend. Over the course of the next two days, The Linda will screen three films based on the works of Henry James.
The fest kicks off at 7:30pm tonight with a special gala opening event. Not only will the theater be screening the 1974 Peter Bogdanovich film “Daisy Miller,” starring Cybill Shepherd, Barry Brown and Cloris Leachman, but following the movie, Bogdanovich will be on hand to discuss the film.
The festival will continue at 10am on Saturday with the double-bill of Jane Campion’s 1996 film, “The Portrait of a Lady” starring Nicole Kidman, John Malkovich and Barbara Hershey; followed by Iain Softley’s 1997 movie, “The Wings of the Dove” starring Helena Bonham Carter, Linus Roache and Alison Elliott.
All three films, as well as Peter Bogdanovich’s talk, are open to the public, and admission is free.
