Be Here Now: Rock N Roll Expo & Albany Comic Con, 4/17/11

Pop culture collectors will likely be zipping up and down Wolf Road in Colonie on Sunday. There’s a double-header – with the Rock N Roll Expo at the Albany Marriott and the Albany Comic Con at the Holiday Inn.

Record collectors and music geeks will be gathering at Felix Iavarone’s Rock N Roll Expo to buy, sell and trade vinyl, CDs, comics, DVDs, video games and all manner of other pop culture artifacts. In addition to all of the dealers and collectors with the tables full of wares, there expo will also feature live performances by ’70s rockers Starz, John Lennon/Beatles tribute artist Imagining Lennon and comic acoustic singer-songwriter Drew Jacobs. And although, he won’t be performing rocker Tommy James (of Tommy James & the Shondells) will be on hand signing his book, “Me, the Mob and the Music.” The expo runs from 10am-6pm, and admission is $6.

Meanwhile, the Albany Comic Con is also taking place on Sunday, just a bit down Wolf Road. Among the comic book writers and illustrators who will be on hand are Paul Abrams, Dick Ayers, Bill Anderson, Greg Blazer, Ken Branch, Mike Borkowski, Keith Dallas, Todd Dezago, Randy Elliott, Dan Green, Paul Harding, John Hebert, Fred Hembeck, Jamal Igle, Tyler James, Ron Marz, Mark Mckenna, Lee Moder, Dave Rodriguez, Declan Shalvey, Val Semeiks, Matthew Dow Smith, Christian St. Pierre, Joe St. Pierre, Joe Staton, Bobby Timony, Peter Timony and Mike Zagari. Comic Con runs from 10am-4pm, and admission is $5.
