MUSIC: Bear Grass @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Katie Hammon (of Slender Shoulders) celebrates the release of her debut solo album, “In the Light,” a concept album about a family dealing with mental illness. MUSIC: Clint Holmes @ Proctors, Schenectady. The year was 1973, and Clint Holmes’ hit single “Playground in My Mind,” was No. 2 on the Billboard charts, nestled between Paul McCartney (“My Love” at No. 1) and Elton John (“Daniel” at No. 3). Now 65 years old, the multi-talented, award-winning Las Vegas showman heads into the Electric City for a pair of concerts with the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra to benefit Proctors and the symphony. MUSIC: “Katrina Ballads” @ Williams College’s Chapin Hall, Williamstown. Directed by Thomas Bergeron, the Opus Zero Band and I/O Ensemble perform Ted Hearne’s award-winning work for chamber orchestra, a jazz/rock rhythm section, four vocal soloists and choir. 8pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Old Blind Dogs @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. The supergroup captures the entire spectrum of the Scottish folk tradition, sometimes fusing it with African rhythms, too.
