5/17/11: Today’s Tips: Tuesday
MUSIC: Tony Trischka & Territory @ The Linda, Albany. What would make a 14-year-old boy in Syracuse want to pick up a banjo? In Trischka’s case it was hearing the Kingston Trio play “Charlie on the MTA.” And what would make that same young musician become the most influential banjo player in the roots music world? Talent and dedication… With Hot Mustard. 8pm. $18.
MUSIC: Americana Tuesday @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Host band Dan Johnson & His Expert Sidemen will be joined by the fabulous Jim Gaudet & the Railroad Boys. 8pm. $5.

After the Burial, Motionless In White, For the Fallen Dreams, Stray From the Path and the Nightlife. Doors open at 5:30pm; showtime is 6pm. $13 in advance; $15 at the door.
