Win FREE TIX to Bob Dylan Tribute Concert!
Happy birthday, Bob!
Yes, Bob Dylan turns 70 years old on Tuesday, and the folks at Caffe Lena are kicking off the birthday celebration early. At 8pm on Saturday, the Caffe takes over the Skidmore College Dance Theater to present an all-star Dylan tribute concert featuring some of Nippertown’s finest musicians.
“Celebrating Bob Dylan’s 70th Birthday” will feature acoustic folk & bluesman Kyle Miller; bluegrass groups Dyer Switch and Jim Gaudet & the Railroad Boys; alt-country combo Tern Rounders; Boston-based country rockers Jo Henley; Kevin McKrell’s new trio Melick, Moody & McKrell, blues duo Street Corner Holler (featuring Mark Tolstrup and Dale Haskell); Annie & Jonny Rosen (of Annie & the Hedonists).
Serving as co-hosts of the tribute concert are Michael Eck (who hosted a decade’s worth of Bob Dylan birthday tribute concerts at Union College in Schenectady) and Phil Drum of the Saratoga Acoustic Blues Society. Tix are $25, and proceeds will benefit Caffe Lena.
BUT WAIT… What’s this? A FREE pair of tickets? That’s right, we’re giving away two pairs of FREE TIX to lucky Nippertown readers! To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winners will be selected at random and notified on Friday afternoon. Good luck! Congratulations, Mary Ellen and Steve Ward!
I have always wanted to go to one of these shows! I”d love to win these tix!
this will be a g reat night,
I have been playing at Caffe Lena’s open mic for years. A few years ago, I was awarded the opportunity to host the weekly event one Thursday a month. Each time I perform, I see photographs of Bob Dylan on the wall… they are photographs of Dylan before he was DYLAN… when he played to chatty crowds in tiny hole-in-the-wall folk clubs. It must have been a really amazing time for music. I wish I could back to that time period and experience it… Then again, I get to experience a piece of it every time I attend the open mic at Caffe Lena. Unfortunately, money is tight and I can’t afford the Dylan Tribute Show. Still, I’m gauranteed to see some rehearsals at open mic this week. Some of the performers are regulars at Caffe Lena. What a great opportunity it is for them to be a part of this show!
don’t think twice it’s alright
The Answer My Friends Is Blowin In The Wind and I Wish to Attend such a great event
Being closer to Dylan’s age than I like to admit–I’m ready to gather with friends to help blow out all those candles–if the fire marshals allow.
I’ve been following Bob Dylan for his whole career, been to the Ironbound region of Minnesota, know the cafes in Greenwich Village, and love Woodstock where he had a house. I’d LOVE to go to this concert with my sweetie of 36 years, 32 of them married.
Won’t you please crawl out yer free ticket window?
How many nights must a mama stay home before a free show she can see? And how many times must she lay down her head before she wins tickets for free? Yes and how many children must she tuck into bed before they just let her be?
OMG -It would be altogether too cool!
The Zankle is a bonus
Gosh darn that Steve Ward… 🙂
