Win FREE TIX to Sevendys, Bryan Thomas & Sgt. Dunbar @ The Linda
Who are Sevendys, you ask?
Well, they’re the latest band to jump out of the ever-expanding mind of Jed Davis, who has previously conjured up such impressive bands as Hanslick Rebellion, Collider, Jeebus and Skyscape. Davis – who earned the Nippertown Music Award for Best Wax Cylinder of the Year for his 2010 recording “Yuppie Exodus from DUMBO” – has teamed up with an all-star bunch of musicians – guitarslinger Avi Zahner-Isenberg and drummer Sheridan Riley (both from the edgy Sub Pop rockers Avi Buffalo) and veteran bassist Chuck Rainey (master sessioneer and groovemeister who has laid down the foundation for albums by Laura Nyro, Tim Buckley, Marvin Gaye and Steely Dan, to name just a few.)
Since forming less than a year ago, they’ve been recording at some of the most prestigious recording studios around the country, including SugarHill in Houston, EastWest in Los Angeles and just last weekend at Dreamland near Woodstock.
Now, they’re finally making their official Nippertown performance debut at The Linda in Albany at 8pm on Tuesday. Unfortunately, Rainey has other commitments in Japan and won’t be at the Albany gig, but the band will be bolstered by bassist Willow Tonight and all-star percussionist Jerry Marotta.
Sharing the bill on Tuesday will be two of Nippertown’s finest homegrown musical talents – singer-songwriter sublime Bryan Thomas and the fabulous Sgt. Dunbar & the Hobo Banned.
Tix are $10.
BUT WAIT… Have we got a deal for you!?! We’re giving away a pair of FREE TIX to the concert. To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winners will be selected at random and notified on Tuesday (that’s tomorrow). Good luck! Congratulations, Kevin!
