6/21/11: Today’s Tips: Tuesday

MUSIC: Dinosaur Jr. @ the Calvin Theatre, Northampton. Not only are J Mascis and the boys going to rip through their classic 1988 album “Bug” in its entirety, but joining them on the bill are none other than Henry Rollins, Sonic Youth’s guitar freakster Thurston Moore and the Warblers. A benefit concert for Whole Children. 6:30pm. $25.

MUSIC: Americana Tuesday @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Host band Dan Johnson & His Expert Sidemen welcome North Carolina’s Holy Ghost Tent Revival, an eclectic, intoxicating six-piece combo that melds brass with banjo, guitar, bass, drums and keys into a musical alchemy all their own. 8pm. $5.

MUSIC: Dave Alvin & the Guilty Ones @ the Iron Horse Music Hall, Northampton. If you missed Alvin and his lean, mean band at Club Helsinki on Sunday serving up a sneak preview of their new CD “Eleven Eleven” (in stores today) along with a batch of catalog tunes, well, now you’ve got another chance… 7pm. $20 in advance; $25 at the door.
