FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Solid Sound @ MASS MoCA, North Adams. Day One of Wilco’s second annual festival of eclectic music featuring Wilco, Pajama Club, Purling Hiss and DJ John Ciba. Also films and exhibits. 4pm. $65; kids ages 7-10 $50 for the weekend; kids age 6 and under free. Through Sunday.

FESTIVAL/MUSIC: Old Songs Festival of Traditional Music and Dance @ the Altamont Fairgrounds, Altamont. Day One of the three-day fest features classes, workshops and mini-concerts during the afternoon and the Press Gang, Acoustic Eidolon, Ellis, Bing Futch, Libana, Jez Lowe, Andy Cohen and Arrogant Worms at the 7pm concert emceed by George Ward. $35; seniors and students $30; youths (age 13-18) $20; ages 12 and under free. Through Sunday.

MUSIC: Melick, Moody & McKrell @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Fab singer-songwriter Kevin McKrell teams up with fiddler Doug Moody and percussionist Brian Melick. 8pm. $14 in advance; $16 at the door.

FILM: “The Tree of Life” @ the Spectrum 8 Theatres, Albany. The Palme D’Or prize winner at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival, the film is Terrence Malick’s impressionistic of a Midwestern family in the ’50s, starring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Jessica Chastain and Fiona Shaw. 12noon, 1:40, 3:25, 4:40, 6:25, 7:45, 9:30pm. $9.25; matinees and seniors $7.50; child $6.50.

MUSIC: The Soul Rebel Brass Band @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. Authentic New Orleans brass band street sounds. Take the traditional Mardi Gras parade funk, add a dash of rock, a splash of reggae and a hip-hop vibe. Tune yourself up for jazz fest weekend… 9pm. $18.

MUSIC: Robbie Dupree & Friends @ Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. Featuring keyboardist Clifford Carter, guitarist Larry Hoppen, percussionist Leslie Smith, drummer Peter Bunetta, bassist Rick Chudacoff and vocalists Nadia Ackerman and Gabrielle Aimée. 9pm. $20.

ARTS WALK: Troy Night Out @ various locations, Troy. So much going on including reception of ACCR’s Fence Show Select, Clement’s Gallery’s “Eye Candy” and the Nadia Trinkala Memorial Art Exhibition at the Fulton Street Gallery, to name just a few… 5-9pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Nitro Jive @ Riverfront Park, Troy. It’s swing night. 7pm. FREE.

MUSIC: The Dave Berger Quartet @ Max London’s, Saratoga Springs. The house jazz band with guest trombonist Ric Rosoff and guitarist Michael Louis Smith. 10pm.

FILM: “Cabin in the Sky” @ Clark Art Institute, Williamstown. The first offering of the PraiseSong film series is Vincente Minnelli’s 1943 directorial debut featuring Ethel Waters and Lena Horne with cameos by Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington. 4pm.

MUSIC: Captain Squeeze & the Zydeco Moshers @ Palmer House Cafe, Rensselaerville. It’s a hometown gig, and the Captain whips up a storm of Louisiana music. 6:30pm. $19.50 with the French Quarter Cajun Buffet; $10 for just the music.
