“I think the first album that I ever bought with my own money was Kenny Rogers’ ‘Greatest Hits.’ Yes, it definitely was. On vinyl, of course.

I bought it at Zounds, this record store near my house, and right away I went home and learned ‘The Gambler’ and ‘Coward of the County.’ I was into country music.”

Ed Robertson and his bandmates in Barenaked Ladies will return to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Sunday, sharing the stage with the Goo Goo Dolls, Michelle Branch and Parachute as part of 99.5 the River’s Summer Night Out. Showtime is 6:30pm, and tix are $35, $45 and $55; lawn $20.
