Festival Fever: Funktoberfest @ Gelston Castle Estate, 10/8/11

Gelston Castle Estate in Mohawk is, of course, the home of moe.down as well as a number of other music fests, and they’re not done for the season just yet.

On Saturday (October 8), the venue will host the inaugural Funktoberfest celebration, featuring Rock and Roll Hall of Famers and funkmeisters George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic as headliners.

Like all Octoberfests, Funktoberfest celebrates beer and food, but the emphasis is clearly on the music. In addition to the veteran Clinton and his Mothership of musicians, the day-long festival will also feature performances by L*A*W, Anguile & the High Steppers, Frank Stepanek Band with George Deveny and others. WOUR-FM’s Genesee Joe will emcee the bash.

Gates open at 10am on Saturday with the music kicking off at 11am. It’s a 21-and-over only affair, and advance tix are $30. VFW members and active-duty military personnel $21. Overnight RV camping in available.
