MUSIC: “Dancing On the Air” @ New World Home Cooking, Saugerties. Jay Ungar & Molly Mason take their monthly WAMC-FM radio show on the road for a winter holiday show for the whole family. With Mike & Ruthy, Elizabeth Mitchell & You Are My Flower and Uncle Rock. 3pm. $10; kids $5.
FILM: “Nightwatching” @ the Clark Art Institute, Williamstown. As part of the “Looking at Rembrandt” film series, the Clark screens Peter Greenaway’s envelope-pushing film which explores Rembrandt’s romantic and professional life through his famous painting “The Night Watch,” which is said to contain the clues to unraveling a murder plot. 2pm. FREE.
MUSIC/MORE: Rat-A-Tat Tattoo & Music Expo @ Northern Lights, Clifton Park. Day Two of the non-stop inkin’ and headbangin’ extravaganza. Baltimore’s Trapped Under Ice headlines today’s bash, which also features Backtrack, Take Offense, Hundredth, Betrayal, Born Low, Goat Fight, Nephalum, the Power and Breathless by Dawn. 1pm. $15.
THEATER: Golden Dragon Acrobats @ The Egg, Albany. The ensemble combines award-winning acrobatics, traditional dance, spectacular costumes, ancient and contemporary music and an array of theatrical techniques. 3pm. $22; children $15.
MUSIC: Dark Star Orchestra @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. Yes, the Grateful Dead tribute band is also scheduled to rumble into the Palace Theatre in Albany on Friday, December 9, but this show promises to be a rare, intimate, acoustic performance by the band. 8pm. $40.
MUSIC: Mannheim Steamroller @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. OK, actually this is called “The Christmas Music of Mannheim Steamroller by Chip Davis.” But Chip Davis is Mannheim Steamroller, right? On the other hand, Chip Davis is also C.W. McCall. We’d already be lined up for the show if he promised to perform a special holiday version of “Convoy.” 4:30pm. $34, $49, $59 & $72.
