WEQX-FM is sponsoring a free show by Deer Tick at Jillian’s in Albany on Saturday, December 10. Doors open at 8pm.

Recent additions to the concert calendar for the Eighth Step at Proctors in Schenectady include the marvelous Buffy Sainte-Marie and her band at 7:30pm on Friday, January 6 ($28, $35); folk-pop duo Aztec Two-Step at 7:30pm on Saturday, January 28 ($26 in advance; $28 at the door); and jazz guitar great Frank Vignola at 7:30pm on Saturday, February 4 ($24 in advance; $26 at the door). Tix for all three shows are currently on sale.

Steve Aoki – electro house musician, record producer and founder of Dim Mak Records – pumps up the volume at Northern Lights in Clifton Park at 9pm on Wednesday, February 29. (Happy Sadie Hawkins Day!) Priced at $25 in advance, tix go on sale at 1pm on Saturday (December 3).

Proctors in Schenectady is hosting “First Night of Funny” on Saturday, December 31, as four comedians – Paul Bond, Carole Montgomery, Johnny Rizzo and Chris Rich – provide the chuckles to usher in the new year. Showtime is 8pm. Tix are $24 through Christmas; $29 thereafter; $34 at the door.

The Berkshire Ramblers – led by co-founders Joe Browdy and WAMC-FM’s own banjo-playing CEO Alan Chartock – ramble into The Linda with a host of special guests at 7:30pm on Friday, December 16, to play a fundraising concert for radio station WAMC-FM. Tix are $50.

Although there’s been no official word from the venue yet, the bluegrass-folk trio Red Molly will be making a stop at the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall in Troy on Friday, May 11, according to the group’s website.

The Mendelssohn Club of Albany will perform their annual holiday concert, “Welcome Yule,” at The Egg in Albany at 8pm on Friday, December 9. They will be joined by the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Handbell Choir and the Bel Canto Voices from Niskayuna High School. Tix are $18.

No word yet from the venue, but Popa Chubby’s website indicates that the blues-rocker is slated to make a return appearance at the Van Dyck in Schenectady on Friday, January 27. Stay tuned for details…

OPENERS: Led by Nancy Josephson, the Angel Band has been added as the opening act for David Bromberg at the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock at 9pm on Saturday (December 3).

CANCELLED: Javier Colon – the winner of the inaugural season of the singing competition TV show “The Voice” – was scheduled to perform in concert at The Egg in Albany on Sunday (December 4), but the concert has been cancelled. Additional info here.

    there appears to be an error in your posting. It says that tickets for the WAMC show are $50. You must have that confused with the Roger Waters gig.
