Lost Radio Rounders: Michael Eck and Tom Lindsay
Lost Radio Rounders

One of Nippertown’s finest acoustic roots music duos, Lost Radio Rounders are headed into the famed Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs on Friday evening, and as usual they’ve got something special planned for the occasion.

In the past, LRR – the duo of Tom Lindsay and Michael Eck – have performed such special concert programs as “The Gospel Train: Historic American Spiritual & Religious Music,” “Lincoln And Liberty: Songs From The Time Of Honest Abe,” “Wildwood Flower: Songs Of The Original Carter Family” and “American Favorite Ballads: Songs From Folkways.”

This time around, they’re delving into the rich musical legacy of one of America’s great poets and folk song collectors with “Carl Sandburg’s American Songbag.” Expect to hear such classics as “The Midnight Special,” “John B. Sails,” “Shenandoah” and “Turkey in the Straw,” all culled from Sandburg’s timeless “American Songbag,” first published in 1927.

Lost Radio Rounders will be performing at Caffe Lena in Saratoga Springs on Friday (December 2). Maine-based troubadour Putnam Smith opens the show at 8pm. Tix are $15 in advance; $17 at the door.

BUT WAIT… What’s this? FREE TICKETS? That’s right, we’re giving away one FREE TICKET to each of two lucky Nippertown readers! To enter the contest, just post a comment below. Please leave your email address, too. We won’t publish it, but we’ll use it to contact you if you win. The winners will be selected at random and notified on Friday. Good luck!Congratulations, Brett!

I have seen (and of course heard) Mr. Eck perform in both RJS and LRR at the Caffe and would love to see/hear him again! His knowledge of the folk genre is both wide and deep.
