Concert Updates from SPAC
A number of new concert developments have been announced for the 2012 summer sesaon at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center:
Jazz fusion band the Yellowjackets – who earned a pair of Grammy nominations for their latest album, “Timeline,” have been added to the schedule for the Freihofer Saratoga Jazz Festival on Sunday, July 1.
Steven Reineke will conduct the Philadelphia Orchestra’s pops concert, “The Best is Yet to Come: Sinatra and Beyond,” on Friday, August 17. Special guest vocalists for the concert will be Montego Glover (currently starring in the Tony Award-winning Broadway production of “Memphis”) and Tony DeSare (vocalist, pianist and Hudson Falls High School graduate with three solo CDs to his credit).
And jazz-cabaret singer Wesla Whitfield and her husband-pianist Mike Greensill are headed into SPAC’s Spa Little Theater to perform their tribute show “Fever: The Peggy Lee Songbook” on Friday & Sunday, August 24 & 26, as part of SPAC’s “Live from the Algonquin at SPAC” cabaret series, which runs from August 19-28.
