ArtBeat: Taking Flight: Audubon and a World of Birds @ The Berkshire Museum [Berkshire on Stage]
Both avid bird watchers and backyard observers of our native flora and fauna took delight as the Berkshire Museum announced its major new exhibition, Taking Flight: Audubon and the World of Birds. The rare showing of authentic Audubon works is in for a six month run at the museum from January 21 through June 17, 2012. For the opening on January 21, there will be two special presentations in addition to the exhibits. The special exhibit showcases the masterful wildlife art of John James Audubon and explores the fascinating realm of birds, from the tiniest hummingbird to the flightless ostrich. Taking Flight is sponsored by TD Bank. The Berkshire Museum has collaborated with the National Audubon Society and Mass Audubon for this exhibition.
About the Exhibition
Taking Flight: Audubon and the World of Birds, centers on John James Audubon and his passion for birds, which drove him to create The Birds of America, a revolutionary work of science and art that launched Audubon’s reputation as the world’s most renowned wildlife artist.
