Be Here Now: C. Ryder Cooley’s “Xmalia” @ MCLA, 1/25/12

The multi-talented performance artist-musician C. Ryder Cooley is offering another performance of her mesmerizing theater/music work “Xmalia” on Wednesday night (January 25) at MCLA’s Venable Gymnasium in North Adams.

Cooley debuted the haunting, multi-disciplinary performance last year with mind-boggling shows at Club Helsinki in Hudson (read review here) and at Proctors in Schenectady (read review here).

Cooley describes the performance as “songs about extinct animals such as the Tasmanian Tiger, the Pyrenean Ibex the Xerces Butterfly, plus a Dodo-trapeze act. This entertaining tragedy is hosted by a lonely mortician, who summons the animals back to life for her Graveyard Cabaret.”

“Xmalia” is simply a stunning evening of theater and music.

Showtime is 7:30pm Wednesday (January 25), and tix are $10.
