If there has ever been a film to showcase the real artistic possibilities of 3D cinematography, it has to be the Oscar contender Pina, the critically acclaimed documentary about choreographer Pina Bausch.

It opened this week around the country, but with dim prospects of being given a commercial run in the Berkshires. It is a rare and brilliant film that has the whole world talking. (At least those with some taste and refinement.) It may even demonstrate a breakthrough in capturing dance on film.

Thanks to BIFF’s Reel Friends Film Society, the Beacon Cinema and IFC those of us in the Berkshires will be able to enjoy a special screening of the critically-acclaimed documentary film. Pina is directed by Oscar-nominated director Wim Wenders. It will be screened on Thursday, February 2 at the Beacon Cinema in Pittsfield, MA.
