Real Good for Free: Guilderland Public Library’s Second Sunday Concert Series

The Guilderland Public Library has been a staunch supporter of Nippertown’s local music scene for years, and the library’s 2012 Second Sunday Concert Series kicks into high gear on Sunday (February 12) with a special Presidents’ Day weekend performance of “Lincoln and Liberty: Songs from the Time of Honest Abe” by the acoustic old-timey duo of the Lost Radio Rounders.
All concerts take place at 2pm on Sundays, and the library’s upcoming 2012 family-friendly concert series is shaping up like this:
SUNDAY (February 12)
LOST RADIO ROUNDERS: The acoustic duo of Tom Lindsay and Michael Eck has been playing old-timey historic American music together for more than a quarter century. Featuring guitar, mandolin with dobro, ukulele, strumstick, autoharp and banjo. Sing-alongs are more than welcome.
MARCH 11
MUNDO NUEVO: The Latin quartet of José Cruz, Walter Ramos, Fernando Gomes and José Meléndez blends their vocals with guitar, flute, bongós and other percussion, as they heat things up with their repertoire of Cuban, Puerto Rican, Dominican, Brasilian and other spicey music.
MAY 13
PATRICIA KEYES: The classical pianist performs works by Franz Liszt in a special Mother’s Day concert recital.
JUNE 13
SONNY AND PERLEY: The husband-and-wife jazz duo of pianist Sonny Daye and vocalist Perley Rosseau play a “A Tribute to Cole Porter” concert with bassist Lou Pappas.
