2/29/12: Today’s Tips: Wednesday

MUSIC: Langhorne Slim @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Slim and his band – drummer Malachi DeLorenzo, bassist Jeff Ratner and keyboardist–banjo player David Moore – tear it up at Valentine’s. With Babe City, a new all-star female foursome featuring Olivia Quillio, Meagan Duffy, MaryLeigh Roohan and Caroline Corrigan. 8pm. $10.

MUSIC: Steve Aoki @ Northern Lights, Clifton Park. Dim Mak’s Deadmeat Tour 2012 spins into town. With Datsik & DJ Prophet. 9pm. $30.

MUSIC: The Zach Deputy Band @ Jillian’s, Albany. Best known as a one-man band, loop-master Deputy brings full band to town for the first time in support of his latest album, “Another Day.” 9pm. $16.

MUSIC: The City Never Sleeps @ Savannah’s/Dublin Underground, Albany. With Charmboy and the Ameros. 8pm. FREE.

THEATER: “What’s A Great Bard? (Redux)” @ MCLA’s Venable Theatre, North Adams. Written and directed by Doug Jenkins, the slapstick comedy explores what happens when a washed-up director attempts to lead the worst community theater filled with the worst actors and technicians in a production of the worst murder-mystery ever penned. 8pm. $5. Through Saturday (March 3).

    Even if you don’t know Langhorne Slim, which I don’t.

    All you really need to know is WEXT’s best programmer and Hello Pretty City’s host Laura Glazer has her hand in all this! Laura will also serve as host to tonight’s event.

    Add to that the individuals that make up Babe City; Olivia Quillio, Meagan Duffy, MaryLeigh Roohan and Caroline Corrigan and the mind boggles at the combined power awesome talent level.
