MUSIC: The Rising Stars Concert @ The Egg, Albany. Three of today’s top up-and-coming country music singers – Brent Anderson, J.T. Hodges and Kip Moore – join forces for a Nashville triple-header. 7:30pm. $17, $22, $27.

READING: Steven Milhauser @ Skidmore College Palamountain Hall’s Davis Auditorium, Saratoga Springs. The award-winning novelist and Skidmore professor will read from his latest book, “We Others: New and Selected Stories.” 8pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Filter @ Jillian’s, Albany. Vocalist-guitarist Robert Patrick is keepin’ the ’90s alt-rockers rollin’. With a whole slew of opening acts, including the Lost Sons, Karma’s Army, Museum Guards and Menew. 7pm. $20.

TALK/FILM: Kathy High @ EMPAC at RPI, Troy. The bio-artist will offer a lecture, followed by the screening of the new video documentary, “Death Down Under,” death, decay and eco-friendly or ‘green’ burials. 7pm. FREE.
