3/21/12: Today’s Tips: Wednesday

FESTIVAL/FILM: Knickerbocker Film Festival @ Spectrum 8 Theatres, Albany. The third annual film features nine short films “Street Pillow” (Brooklyn), “Why Do You Have A Beard?” (Ireland), “Anonimos” (Spain), “Handmade” (Ukraine), “Ballet of Unhatched Chicks” (Los Angeles, Calif.), “The Piano” (France), Reflejos” (Spain), including two local films “Cheese!” (Clifton Park) and “Save the Date” (Schenectady). 6:30pm. $10. ALSO: The Hudson River Coffee House in Albany will host a late night screening at 11pm. $5.

MUSIC: Bonnie Logan & Vito Mamone @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Yes, this is part of the Caffe’s Emerging Artists series, but singer-songwriter Logan is a veteran, and Vito Mamone? Well, the accordionist-keyboardist has been a mainstay on the Nippertown music scene for as long as I can remember. 7pm. $5.

MUSIC: Perpetual Groove @ Jillian’s, Albany. After a three-year sabbatical, founding keyboardist Matt McDonald re-joins the fold to dig the groove the little deeper. 9:30pm. $15.

MUSIC: Fort Rooster @ Savannah’s/Dublin Underground, Albany. With Cosmonauts and Pillowhead. 8pm. FREE.

READING/PERFORMANCE: “We All” @ the Saratoga Arts Center, Saratoga Springs. Brian Dorn combines spoken word and action-based arts to demonstrate the notion that We All matter. 8pm. $20.

MUSIC: Bard Percussion Spring Concert @ Bard College’s Fisher Center, Annandale-On-Hudson. The resident student percussion ensemble and members of Sō Percussion perform works by Toru Takemitsu, John Cage, Joan Tower, Steve Reich and others. 8pm. FREE.

MUSIC: The Doc Scanlon Trio @ Lanie’s Cafe, Loudonville. 6:30pm. FREE.
