Northern Lights in Clifton has added a few new shows to is concert calendar, including Santigold with DJ Playground at 9pm on Saturday, May 12. Advance tix are $25. Also the Red Jumpsuit Apparatus takes the stage on Tuesday, June 5. Opening the show at 7pm will be Sparks the Rescue, Namesake, the Summer Switch and Heart Foundation. Advance tix are $10. Tix for both shows go on sale at 10am on Friday.

SOLD OUT: In other news from Northern Lights, the Rancid show on Friday, May 18 is now officially sold out.

Judy Collins and Jimmy Webb team up for a double-bill at the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center in Great Barrington at 7pm on Sunday, August 26. Tix are $50 and $70.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Aerosmith’s Global Warming Tour is slated to make a stop at the Times Union Center in Albany. Cheap Trick opens the show.

Singer-songwriter-lo-fi Americana pioneer Jim White will be ramblin’ into Club Helsinki in Hudson at 8pm on Sunday, April 29. Tix are $15. Also new on Helsinki’s concert calendar are singer-songwriter Roy Zimmerman at 8pm on Thursday, April 26 and the return of the Wiyos at 9pm on Friday, June 8.

“Brand New Key.” “Look What They Done to My Song, Ma.” “Lay Down (Candles in the Rain).” Melanie comes full circle from the Woodstock Festival in 1969 to the Bearsville Theater in Woodstock in 2012, when she steps into the spotlight at 9pm on Saturday, June 2. Tix are $35 and $50.

SOLD OUT: Hope you’ve already got your tix to see Ani DiFranco at The Egg in Albany on Thursday, April 19, ’cause the concert is now officially sold out.

Old favorites the Alloy Orchestra are a late addition to the calendar at MASS MoCA in North Adams. The trio – featuring Terry Donahue, Ken Winokur and Mission of Burma’s Roger Miller) – will once again lend their adventurous musical spirit to a collection of short silent films for a matinee screening/performance at 12:30pm on Tuesday (April 10). “Short Film Favorites with New Music” will feature “Red Spectre,” “Artheme Swallows his Clarinet,” the animated “Dream of a Rarebit Fiend: The Pet” and Buster Keaton’s “One Week.” Tix are $5.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: They’re coming back for their seventh consecutive summer tour stop at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs. Yup, it’s O.A.R., and this time around they’re bringing Rebelution with them as their opening act.

The Egg in Albany hosts Vaisakhi Mela 2012, a celebration of Indian culture and music featuring Nashatar Gill, Inderjit Nikku, Malika Jyoti and Ashu Chopra at 7pm on Friday, May 11. Tix are $35, $50 and $125.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: WGNA-FM’s annual CountryFest celebration is moving downtown (and indoors, too) this summer – to the Times Union Center. Eric Church headlines with Joe Nichols, Josh Thompson and Thompson Square.

It’s still almost a year away, but the line-up has already been announced for the next “Sixties Spectacular” concert at Proctors in Schenectady. Slated to take place at 7pm on Saturday, March 23, 2013, the flashback show will feature performances by Peter Noone (of Herman’s Hermits), Mary Wilson (of the Supremes), Jay & the Americans (we think it’s the third “Jay,” although we’re not sure) and the Happenings.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: And finally, for all you kids out there (or rather for all of you parents), Nick Jr. tween popsters the Fresh Beat Band will be jumpin’ into the Saratoga Performing Arts Center for an end-of-summer matinee.

    Hey guys and gals at Nippertown…Just wanted to drop a line about a great concert event on Thursday, April 19th……The SKETCHES OF INFLUENCE NONET+3 w/ opening act The Chronicles featuring Jeff Nania…..This is a scholarship concert and will dedicated to the memories of 2 men who passed away recently, Jack Fragomeni and Sam Farkas…..They were very popular in the Capital Region for their guitar playing and involvement in education…..WVCR 88.3 The Saint along with the program director Darrin Kibbey will be hosting this event…..It would be an honor for all the 17 musicians, WVCR, the scholarship recipient Arden Yonkers as well as myself Joe Barna to have you post this for us on Nippertown……Thank you for reading this and hope you can make it out.
