MUSIC: Hair of the Dog @ the Green Island Bridge parking lot, Troy. It’s the first blast of this summer’s Rockin’ On the River concert series – and one of Nippertown’s most popular bands will launch it. 5pm. FREE.

THEATER: “Here Lies Love” @ MASS MoCA, North Adams. It’s a work-in-progress stage presentation directed by Alex Timbers and based on the collaborative album of the same name helmed by David Byrne and Fatboy Slim. This should be out on the fringes somewhere. 8pm. Through Sunday. UPDATE: All performances are SOLD OUT.

DANCE: Jacob’s Pillow, Becket. The 80th anniversary season opens tonight with Mimulus Dance Company from Brazil bringing a high-energy blend of samba and contemporary dance to the Ted Shawn Theatre at 8pm, while the Australian circus-arts ensemble Circa performs feats of strength and grace at 8:15pm at the Doris Duke Theatre. Both run through Sunday.

BASEBALL: Tri-City ValleyCats @ Bruno Stadium, Troy. Play ball! It’s the home opener for the VC, who take on the Vermont Lake Monsters. It’s also schedule magnet giveaway night. With fireworks after the game. First pitch at 7pm.

MUSIC: Otto & Raissa Count to 4 @ the Colony Cafe, Woodstock. Solstice party. With the laura pepitone show. 8pm. $8.

MUSIC: Funk Evolution @ Freedom Park, Scotia. It’s the kick-off concert for the 2012 Freedom Park summer concert series. 7pm. FREE.

DANCE/THEATER: “A Meditation on ‘The Rite of Spring'” @ Skidmore College’s Bernhard Theater, Saratoga Springs. An informal showing of a collaborative work-in-progress between Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company and SITI Company. 7pm. FREE.

MUSIC: Casey Dinkin @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Folk-pop singer-songwriter from Guilderland making her Caffe debut as part of the Emerging Artist Breakout series. 7pm. $5.

MUSIC: Brass-O-Mania @ Jillian’s, Albany. Big band music. 7pm. FREE.

MUSIC: New York Players @ Taste, Albany. 6pm.
