“As a matter of fact, the Kingston Trio was the first LP that I bought. Yeah, when I was in high school, they were a huge deal at the time. And that record was probably the motivating factor for me to buy a little six-string acoustic guitar also.

And that record led to us recording ‘Sloop John B’ about ten years later. Well, maybe eight years later.”

Mike Love and the rest of the surviving Beach Boys have reunited – yes, including Brian Wilson – and they’re bringing their 50th anniversary tour to the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs at 8pm on Saturday (June 23).
