FILM: “Elles” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Director Malgoska Szumowska’s provocative exploration of female sexuality, starring the fearless Juliette Binoche as Anne, a well-off Parisian journalist investigating the lives of two student prostitutes (Joanna Kulig and Anaïs Demoustier) for a magazine article. 5:30pm.
FILM: “5 Broken Cameras” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. An extraordinary work of both cinematic and political activism. A deeply personal, firsthand account of non-violent resistance in Bil’in, a West Bank village threatened by encroaching Israeli settlements. Shot almost entirely by Palestinian farmer Emad Burnat, who bought his first camera in 2005 to record the birth of his youngest son, the footage was later given to Israeli co-director Guy Davidi to edit. 7:30pm.
MUSIC: Dweezil Zappa Plays Zappa @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. Paying homage to the music of his father, Frank Zappa, Dweezil leads the band featuring saxophonist-keyboardist Scheila Gonzalez, bassist Kurt Morgan, marimba player Billy Hulting, guitarist Jamie Kime, drummer Joe Travers, vocalist Ben Thomas and keyboardist Chris Norton. 8pm. $40.
