MUSIC: The Bang On a Can Marathon @ MASS MoCA, North Adams. The six-hour boundary-busting, ear-pleasing concert of adventurous music featuring more than 50 musicians and composers from around the world, including Steve Reich, who will be on hand to hear his hard-rocking “2×5” (premiered and recorded by Bang on a Can), the ever-popular “Eight Lines” and a rare performance of “Cello Counterpoint,” played live by eight cellists. 4pm. $24; students $15.

MUSIC: Blasé DeBris @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Duane Beer and his veteran Local 518 punk-metal band won’t be releasing their new album “La morte mi troverà vivo” on Austin’s Altercation Records until October. But lucky Nippertown fans will get a jump on everyone else tonight with tonight’s special “Locals Only” CD release show. With Mördwölf and Horror Business. 8:30pm. $10.
