LarkFest: Headline Bands Announced

Radio station WEXT-FM has announced the headlining bands for next month’s LarkFest, and it looks like it’s going to be a serious high-energy street party, so be sure to bring along your dancing shoes.

Here are the newly announced LarkFest headliners:

WORLD PARTY
Led by Karl Wallinger, veteran British pop-rockers World Party will be headlining the Madison Avenue stage in support of “Arkeology,” their new 5-CD box set comprised primarily of previously unreleased material. The band’s most recently Nippertown tour stop was back in 2006 when they headlined the River Street Festival in Troy.

RYAN SHAW
The super soul singer Ryan Shaw revs up the R&B energy at LarkFest in support of his new album, “Real Love.” Shaw’s most recent Nippertown appearance was back in 2008 when he performed at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center as part of the Freihofer Saratoga Jazz Festival.

The rest of the LarkFest line-up of bands was announced earlier this week. Go here for the previous announcement…

The 31st annual LarkFest street festival will take place on Albany’s Lark Street between Washington and Madison avenues from 10am-5:30pm on Saturday, September 15. Admission is, of course, free.

Kudos to WEXT-FM and Lark Street BID and others for putting together quite a strong two stage line up! There’ll be lots of running back and forth… (note to self: open shoe store before LarkFest)
