Real Good for FREE: Empire State Plaza Food Festival, 8/15/12

It’s a day-long feast of food and music as the Empire State Plaza Food Festival takes over – where else? – the Empire State Plaza in Albany on Wednesday (August 15).

Grab lunch, dinner or just snack as you sample foods from more than 50 specialty vendors from all around the region and the state – all while enjoying the sounds of some rockin’ music. The Mike McMann Duo kicks off the festivities in the morning with a set at the Farmers’ Market. Then the lunchtime musical action shifts to the big stage for the classic rock of Message from Vega.

Following an afternoon break – presumably so that state workers can get some work done – the dinner-time and evening portions of the fest will feature Local 518 favorites Alta Mira, ’60s vintage rockers Rare Earth and the headliners – ’90s alt-rockers Tonic.

Admission to the Empire State Plaza Food Festival is free; and free parking is also available at the Empire State Plaza’s East Garage after 3pm.

Here’s the performance schedule of bands for the 2012 Empire State Plaza Food Festival:

11am-12:30pm: The Mike McMann Duo (at the Farmers’ Market)

12:30-2pm: Message from Vega

5-5:45pm: Alta Mira

6:15-7:15pm: Rare Earth
