“I love the smell of bacon in the morning…”
The inaugural Bacon Fest NY took place in Hudson’s Henry Hudson Waterfront Park last Sunday, and the bacon was sizzling from the start.
Unfortunately, due to an unexpectedly large turnout, vendors at the fest ran through their supplies of bacon early on, and by 12noon – with six hours of festivities to go – there was barely a rasher to be found.
The festival organizers learned a valuable lesson – never underestimate the awesome power of bacony goodness – and they vow to be better prepared for next year’s Bacon Fest.
While there was definitely a shortage of bacon, the bands played on, and festival-goers soaked up the sun and the sounds of Ramblin Jug Stompers, Red Haired Strangers, Sgt. Dunbar & the Hobo Banned, the Lucky Jukebox Brigade, Eastbound Jesus and Unexplained Bacon.

Pippy’s Hotdog Truck of Palenville won as the crowd favorite for their Hawaiin Bacon Dog, a mouth pleasing deep fried hot dog wrapped in bacon and slathered with a pineapple ginger mustard sauce. Yum.
Hawaiian Bacon dog was goooooood.
