Comin’ Soon: New Concert Announcements
Deer Tick is headed back to town! In support of their recent EP, Tim, John McCauley and his merry band will kick off their fall tour at Putnam Den in Saratoga Springs for a show at 8pm on Saturday, October 13. Tix are $20 in advance. Melvin Seals & JGB will be rolling into Putnam Den, too, kicking off a two-night stand at 9pm on Friday, October 19. Tix are $20 for each night.
There’s no official word yet from the Times Union Center, but according to his website, ventriloquist/comedian Jeff Dunham will be bringing his Disorderly Conduct Tour to the downtown Albany Arena on Sunday, January 27. Tix are slated to go on sale on Friday, October 12. Additional details to follow…
Did you miss guitar phenom Charlie Hunter at the Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival earlier this month? Well, of course you did. His set was wiped off the fest’s schedule when the monsoon-like rains came rolling in. But don’t worry, you’ll get another chance to catch Mr. Hunter in action when he steps into the spotlight at Red Square in Albany at 9pm on Thursday, October 11. Tix are $12 in advance; $17 at the door. Even better? New Orleans kingpins the Joe Krown Trio – featuring guitarist Walter “Wolfman” Washington, power-pounder Russell Batiste behind the drum kit and Hammond B3 master Krown – returns to Red Square once again at 9pm on Saturday, November 17. Tix are $12 in advance; $15 at the door – and worth every penny.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: Like a bat out of hell, Meat Loaf will be winging his way into the Palace Theatre in Albany this fall with his Mad Mad World Tour. Tix go on sale to the general public on Saturday.
Valentine’s Music Hall in Albany has a batch of new shows on tap, including a weekly Wednesday night residency by the inimitable Hamell On Trial throughout the month of October. (That would be October 3, 10, 17 & 24, for those of you without a calendar handy.) Showtimes are 7:30pm, and admission is $10. Meanwhile, other new shows on the horizon at Valentine’s include comedian Doug Stanhope at 8pm on Saturday, October 20; Floodwood with the Sunny Side of the Street Band at 8pm on Wednesday, October 31; the return of the Chandler Travis Philharmonic at 8pm on Saturday, November 3 ($12 in advance; $15 at the door); the Supersuckers at 8pm on Wednesday, November 28 ($15 in advance; $18 at the door); and the annual holiday show by the Figgs at 9pm on Friday, December 21 ($10).
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: The Palace Theatre in Albany announced that it would be hosting “The Joy of Christmas,” a holiday concert by country music superstar Martina McBride at the Palace Theatre in Albany. Tix go on sale on Friday (September 28).
With more than a half dozen albums to his credit, multi-instrumentalist Jackie Greene has also toured as a member of Phil Lesh & Friends, as well as an acoustic trio with Bob weir and Chris Robinson. He brings his own band into Club Helsinki in Hudson at 8pm on Saturday, October 27. Tix are $18.
The Fort William Henry Hotel & Conference Center in Lake George will be hosting veteran jam band Max Creek’s Halloween Weekend Celebration with shows at 8pm on Friday and Saturday October 26 & 27. Advance tix are $25 per day or $40 for both days.
