Featuring 40 musical acts, the third annual O+ Festival of Art, Music + Wellness is taking place this weekend at a number of locations throughout Kingston. It’s a unique festival, wherein artists barter their contributions directly for medical, dental and other wellness services from art-loving health care providers.

The fest kicks off at 6pm on Friday (October 5) with Brooklyn’s Hungry March Band leading at parade down Main Street, followed by their performance at the BSP Lounge at 7pm. The big event of the night is the dynamic double-bill of the Felice Brothers (9pm) and Richard Buckner (8pm) at the Old Dutch Church, but there’s plenty of other great music the same evening, including Howard Fishman (11pm) and the Local 518’s own Alta Mira (8:15pm) at the Stockade Tavern.

Saturday’s music begins at 10am and continues well past midnight with performances by such bands as Trummors (1pm) and Rosary Beard (2pm) at the Old Dutch Church; the Broken Stares (8:30pm), Graveyard Lovers (10pm) and the Parlor (11:30pm) at the Stockade Tavern; Guardian Alien (10pm), Man Forever (11:15pm) and Nothing But Wolves (12:30am) at BSP Lounge.

Music starts at 12noon on Sunday, featuring the Shoestring Band (1pm), Hello Later (4pm), Autovore (5:15pm) and the Sweet Clementines (6:30pm) at BSP Lounge, before the fest wraps up with a closing party at the Stockade In at 7:30pm.

Those are just a few of the highlights. Nine venues around town are hosting musical performances with 40 bands showcasing. Go here for a complete schedule of performances. And tickets for the entire O Positive Festival are just $25. Sounds like a great way to spend the Columbus Day weekend…
