Winners Named in Hudson Valley Writers Guild 2012 Poetry Competition

The Hudson Valley Writers GuildThe Hudson Valley Writers Guild has announced the winners of its 2012 Poetry Contest. The poetry contest was open to all writers living in New York State and was judged by Cecele Krause, Dawn Marar and Thom Francis. The final judge was poet Phillip Levine of Saugerties. More than 200 entries were received.

The winners of the contest are:

First Place: D.A. Bird of Saugerties for “We, Misplaced”
Second Place: Carol Graser of Galway for “The Haiku”
Third Place: Tess Lecuyer of Albany for “Sonnet for Dana Avenue at Midnight”

A reading by the winners and other entrees will take place from 1-3pm on Saturday (October 27) at the Bethlehem Public Library in Delmar. The reading is free and open to the public.
