OPERA ON FILM: “Otello” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Verdi’s Shakespearean masterpiece returns to the Metropolitan Opera with Johan Botha in the title role opposite the acclaimed Desdemona of star soprano Renee Fleming. FESTIVAL/MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: Festival of the Dead @ the Washington Avenue Armory, Albany. The on-again/off-again fest is definitely ON! With the Erotics, Sirsy, Jocamo, These Are the Hits, the Swing Docs, Barb Wired and lots more. Doors open at 7:30pm. $28. Costumes required.
GUITARS: The Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase @ the Bearsville Theater, Woodstock. Guitars, guitars and more guitars. Stare at ’em. Hear ’em. Touch ’em. Play ’em. Join the community of acoustic stringed-instrument builders, players, collectors and aficionados, at a gathering of handmade acoustic guitars and stringed musical instruments from around the world. 11am-6pm. $20; or $30 for both days. FILM: “Radio Unnameable” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. This documentary film by Paul Lovelace and Jessica Wolfson paints a fascinating portrait of influential WBAI-FM radio personality Bob Fass, who revolutionized the airwaves by developing a patchwork of music, politics, comedy and reports from the street, effectively creating free-form radio. 8:30pm. $7; students $5.
MUSIC: “The Classical Mystery Tour” @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. The Beatles tribute group Classical Mystery Tour joins the Albany Symphony Orchestra in performance of the greatest Fab Four hits performed with full orchestra – a rare treat that gives these classics new life and vitality. 7:30pm.
FILM: “Stars in Shorts” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Seven short films (all from the last year and a half or so) featuring famous actors – Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Colin Firth, Keira Knightley, Julia Stiles and Lily Tomlin. The films are a real mix – comedy, sci-fi, drama, even a musical – and they come together nicely as a well-rounded theatrical presentation. 6pm. $7; students $5.
THEATER/MUSIC: “The Evolution of Rhythms” @ Barrington Stage Company, Pittsfield.
A one night only, world premiere of an original musical by 25-year-old musician-educator Jerome Edgerton that explores the history of beats and hip-hop. Featuring Youth Alive. 7pm. $10; seniors & students $5; ages 11 and under FREE.

MUSIC: Jez Lowe @ Old Songs, Voorheesville. For the past 30 years, the British singer-songwriter has taken his songs of life in his native North East England to audiences across the world. His latest album, his fifteenth, is titled Wotcheor! 8pm. $20.
MUSIC: The Nellies @ Jose Malone’s, Troy. Playing “Americana-bluegrass with a rootsy, happy twist,” Karen Ann Gilpin, Peggy Lecuyer, Gene Lemme, Mike McMann and Kevin Maul celebrate the first anniversary of their debut CD release with a Halloween party. 8pm. FREE.
