10/29/12: Today’s Tips: Monday

FILM: “Singin’ in the Rain” @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. How’s this for perfect timing? At the height of tonight’s storm the Palace has scheduled a screening of “Singin’ in the Rain.” That is just excellent. The only thing better might be to show it as a double feature with “Gone With the Wind”… 7pm. UPDATE: O, the irony of it all! “Singin’ in the Rain” is cancelled due to the storm.

BURLESQUE: Bing Bamboo Room Burlesque @ the Bayou Cafe, Albany. Guy Smiley and the whole Bing Bamboo Room gang serve up their annual Halloween show, “The Bing Bamboo Room Sucks: A Gothic Vampire Saga.” 8pm. $10.

MUSIC: Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra @ Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. Performing works by Lutoslawski, Dvorak and Tchaikovsky. 7:30pm. $40 & $45. UPDATE: Performance cancelled due to storm.

FILM: “Monty Python & the Holy Grail” @ the Berkshire Museum, Pittsfield. 2 & 7pm. UPDATE: Both screenings have been postponed to a TBA date due to storm.

MUSIC: Electric Rubyfish @ Club Helsinki, Hudson. 8pm. FREE. UPDATE: Cancelled due to storm.

THEATER ON FILM: “The Last of the Haussmans” @ Spectrum 8 Theatres, Albany. The National Theatre of London’s production of Stephen Beresford’s funny and touching new play starring Julie Walters with Rory Kinnear and Helen McCrory, as a family that’s losing its grip. 7pm. $15; ages 12 and under $12.

MUSIC: Black Fox River Project @ Moon & River Cafe, Schenectady. 8pm. FREE.

FILM: “Bringing Up Baby” @ Proctors Mainstage, Schenectady. Howard Hawks directs Katharine Hepburn and Cary Grant in this grand comedy. 2:30, 5 & 7:30pm. $5. UPDATE: Cancelled due to storm.

MUSIC: The HandMe Downs @ Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany. Detroit punks. With Stiff Boys, the Pistol Whips and Robot Monster. 8pm. $5 in costume; $7 without.
