MUSIC: The Womack Family Band @ More Bread & Jam, Cohoes. Since their debut just two years ago, the Womack Family Band has captivated audiences all over the eastern U.S. with their spot-on three-part vocal harmony, tight musicianship and old-soul songwriting. MUSIC: Toots & the Maytals @ the Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center, Great Barrington. The Grammy Award-winning reggae-soul pioneers celebrate their 50th anniversary with an acoustic, unplugged tour. 7pm. $46.

MUSIC: Billy Eli @ the Ale House, Troy. Lone Star Americana singer-songwriter rides into town for a show with Tony Markelis (just back from touring with Trey Anastasio) and Kevin Maul backing him up. The Coveralls open the evening’s festivities. 6pm.

THEATER DISCUSSION: “Critics Panel: To Pan or Not to Pan – Insights into Criticism of New Work” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. In conjunction with the Next Act New Play Summit, Benita Zahn moderates a panel discussion with local theater critics Jeffrey Borak (Berkshire Eagle), Michael Eck (Times Union), Bob Goepfert (Saratogian/Troy Record), Amy Durant (Daily Gazette), James Yeara (Metroland) and Byron Nilsson (Metroland). 1pm.

MUSIC: Monday Musical Club of Albany @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Featuring pianist Agnes Armstrong, flutists Karen Klevanosky and Elisabeth Williams, as well as guitarists Frederic Hellwitz, Eugenio Reis and William Simcoe. 2pm. $14.

THEATER: “The Piper” @ Capital Repertory Theatre, Albany. A reading/singing of the new musical by Marcus Hummon (songwriter of Number One country hits for the Dixie Chicks, Sara Evans and Rascal Flatts) as the finale in the Next Act New Play Summit. 4pm. $15; students $10.

MUSIC: Kyle Carey @ Caffe Lena, Saratoga Springs. Skidmore alum and former Caffe volunteer, Carey returns to the Spa City for an evening of Gaelic Americana music accompanied by guitarist Sean Earnest. Liz Simmons with guitarist Flynn Cohen open the show. 7pm. $16.

OPERA ON FILM: “Otello” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Verdi’s Shakespearean masterpiece returns to the Metropolitan Opera with Johan Botha in the title role opposite the acclaimed Desdemona of star soprano Renee Fleming. Semyon Bychkov conducts. 12:55pm. $25: students $15.

FILM: “The Revisionaries” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Director Scott Thurman examines the 15-member Texas State Board of Education, which determines the teaching and textbook standards for nearly five million schoolchildren. 6pm. $7; students $5.

DANCE ON FILM: “Giselle” @ Clark Art Institute, Williamstown. Filmed at the historic and internationally acclaimed Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. 1pm. $15; students $13.
