11/25/12: Today’s Tips: Sunday

MUSIC: Dance Gavin Dance @ Upstate Concert Hall, Clifton Park. The Rock Yourself to Sleep tour showcases the band’s new singer Tilian Pearson, who has replaced Jonny Craig. With A Lot Like Birds, I the Mighty, Hail the Sun and the Orphan, the Poet. 6:30pm. $17.

FILM: “Barrymore” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Academy Award-winner Christopher Plummer stars as John Barrymore, one of the greatest Shakespearian actors of all time in this play by William Luce. With “Backstage with Barrymore,” a making-of documentary. 1pm. $15; students $7.50.

MUSIC: Graham Parker & the Rumour @ the Bradavon Theatre, Poughkeepsie. It’s been a looong wait for this reunion, but Parker and the Rumour are back together in support of Three Chords Good, their first new album in more than 30 years. 7pm. $43.

FILM: “Samsara” @ Time + Space Limited, Hudson. Director Ron Fricke eschews dialogue and descriptive text, subverting our expectations of a traditional documentary, and instead encouraging our own inner interpretations inspired by images and music that infuses the ancient with the modern. Filmed in 25 different countries over the course of five years. 7pm. $7; students $5.

DANCE ON FILM: “An Evening with Kylián/Inger/Walerski” @ Proctors, Schenectady. Four contemporary ballet works from the Netherland Dance Theatre Contemporary Ballet. 2pm. $15; ages 17 & under $10. Also at 2 & 7pm on Tuesday.

MUSIC: Frank Jaklitsch @ Hibernian Hall, Albany. 5pm.

DANCE/THEATER: Tap Dogs @ the Palace Theatre, Albany. Created by Olivier Award-winning choreographer Dein Perry, the Australian power-tap dance celebration lands in Nippertown to wrap up the Thanksgiving weekend. 7pm. $28, $38 & $48. UPDATE: This show has been cancelled.

MUSIC: Tapestry @ the Perfect Blend Cafe, Delmar. Acoustic duo. 11am. FREE.
