MUSIC/FUNDRAISER: Judy Collins @ the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, Troy. Sweet Judy Blue Eyes and her longtime pianist Russell Walden have made numerous Nippertown appearances in recent years – most of them hovering around the Christmas holiday season. But this is their first Local 518 appearance with special guest and Hall of Fame songwriter Jimmy Webb. They’ve got to play at least “The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress” together, right? TALK: Zadie Smith @ Skidmore College’s Palamountain Hall, Saratoga Springs. One of the most celebrated young authors in the English-speaking world (“NW,” “The Autograph Man,” “White Teeth,” “On Beauty”) presents the Frances Steloff Lecture, titled “The Writer in the World.” 8pm. FREE.
