Best of 2012: Gene Sennes
Story by Gene Sennes
Here are some of my faves from the past year:
1. Blunderbuss by Jack White. I listened to this everyday for a month straight. I need to be in this band, man!
2. King Animal by Soundgarden. I waited a long time for this one… and wasn’t disappointed. Matt Cameron is one of my all-time favorite drummers, and the whole band picked up right where they left off.
3. The Dark Knight Rises Soundtrack by Hans Zimmer. A perfect blend of electronic and orchestral music. This cat has it down.
4. Public Image Limited at the Upstate Concert Hall, 10/12/12. Johnny Rotten in a strip mall in Clifton Park. Who knew?!
5. “Across the Great Divide: A Tribute to Levon Helm and the Band” at Valentine’s Music Hall, Albany, 6/15/12. I was honored to be asked to play, and there was no way I was gonna turn this down. I never had the chance to play “Chest Fever” before, and loved every minute on stage.
